Just like Reels, YouTube Shorts is an amazing tool for creating short vertical videos of up to 60 seconds. This can single-handedly boost engagement, improve SEO, and reach a larger audience on YouTube. It’s a highly effective technique to share your content and drive more visitors to your website. Whether you’re sharing tutorials, funny clips, or bite-sized content, embedding YouTube Shorts in WordPress is super easy if you know your way around it.
Now, if you have no idea how to do this, we have a little something for you. This how-to will walk you through the full process of how to embed YouTube shorts in WordPress. Let’s get right in.
How to Embed YouTube Shorts in WordPress
You can easily do this in the Gutenberg block editor. First things first, go to the YouTube short you want to embed. Click on the Share icon next to the short. It will show a pop-up with the link to the short. Copy the link by clicking the button next to it.

Or you can just select the whole link and right-click on it. Then, copy the link.
When it comes to controlling the aspect ratio of the short video, a plugin can come in very handy, and today we’re using Ultimate Blocks for this. To get the plugin, we will go straight to the WordPress Dashboard. Then go to Plugins and click on Add New Plugin. Now, search for Ultimate Blocks, click Install Now, and then activate it.

Go to your WordPress post or page where you want to embed this short. Click on the plus (+) icon. Type Video (UB) in the search box. Then just click and insert the block.

Once inserted, the block will look something like this:

Now, click on ‘Insert from URL’ and paste the YouTube Short URL in this box. Then click on the Embed button.

Once the Short is embedded in your post or page, you will see some extra space on either side of the video. That’s not a problem at all, as you can save the space from being wasted by expanding the width of your short.
To do so, select the Video (UB) block. Then click on the Settings icon from the top right-hand side, from the Aspect Ratio, select ‘Tall – 9:16’. It will expand the width of the short video.

Then you will have to resize your short. Just transform the Block to Group and customize the Content Width as you like.

That’s it, you are good to go.
Conclusion
So that was the A to Z of embedding a YouTube short in WordPress. Now that you know how to do it on your own, you can easily integrate Shorts into your WordPress posts, boosting the engagement and reach of your content a little bit more.
