Connect guide
Connect Claude or ChatGPT to your site.
GroundWP turns your WordPress site into something Claude and ChatGPT can connect to. You sign in with your own WordPress account, on your own site, and approve. These steps mirror the Connections tab inside the plugin.
Claude
Open Claude
In GroundWP → Connections, click Open Claude. Claude opens with your site’s name and address filled in and notes that they came from a link. Check them, keep the options marked “Detected”, then click Add.
Click Connect
Claude then shows “You’re not connected to your site yet”. Click Connect to start the sign-in.
Sign in and approve
Claude sends you back to your site. Sign in if asked, then click Approve.
Start a chat
In any chat, click + and open Connectors to make sure your site is on. Then ask for a page. Claude asks before it changes anything.
Works on every Claude plan; the Free plan allows one custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors, then everyone clicks Connect.
ChatGPT
Add a server
In GroundWP → Connections, click Open ChatGPT. On the plugins page, click + and choose “Add custom MCP server”.
Name it
Call it after your site and add a one-line description, such as “Builds pages on my site from its own patterns”.
Paste the address
Under Connection, keep “Server URL” selected and paste the server address GroundWP shows.
Choose OAuth
Under Authentication, pick OAuth. Tick “I understand and want to continue”, then “Create as a plugin”. If ChatGPT says it could not discover OAuth settings, run the connection checks on your site’s Troubleshoot tab; they say what to ask your host.
Install and sign in
Review the tools and install the plugin. When asked, sign in to your site and click Approve.
Start a chat
In a new conversation, type @ and pick your site. Then ask for a page.
Needs a paid ChatGPT plan (Business, Enterprise and Edu; some individual plans) and the chatgpt.com website on a computer. ChatGPT changes this screen often; these steps were checked in October 2026.
If something fails
Open GroundWP → Troubleshoot on your site. It requests the site the way the apps do, names what blocks a connection, and gives you the lines to paste to your host.
